Gibbes Beach
Quiet crescent of soft sand on the west coast, with calm, clear water for swimming and snorkelling

Gibbes (also spelled Gibbs) is a crescent of soft white sand on the calm west coast in St. Peter, just south of Mullins. It is one of the quieter beaches on this coast, lined with villas and shaded by big old trees. Unlike many west-coast beaches it shelves gently, with no sudden drop and no pebbles underfoot, so it is easy for children and gentle swimmers. The water is calm and clear enough for good snorkelling. There are no facilities on the beach: no bar, no chair hire and no changing rooms. Bring what you need, or walk to the beach bar at Mullins next door. Public access lanes run down between the houses. Weekdays are quietest. At weekends local boat owners anchor offshore, and watersports operators sometimes pass by with water-skiing, banana boats and parasailing.
