Bonavista stands on a quiet stretch of white sand at Gibbs Beach, St. Peter, on the west coast of Barbados. A paved courtyard, set among Caribbean greenery, leads guests in through an arched doorway that frames a clear view straight through to the sea. Inside, the hallway takes you past stone turtle footstools and an iron anchor set among tropical planting, with the Caribbean Sea and the pool in view beyond. The drawing room is furnished with mahogany pieces, antique Oriental rugs and polished antique mirrors. From here the living areas open onto a covered terrace fitted out with a full dining area, a recessed service counter and a wet bar. The house has 4 bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms and sleeps up to 8 guests, with the bedrooms split evenly across two floors, each with its own colour scheme and air conditioning. On the lower level, one king-sized bedroom opens directly onto the beach, while a second lower-level room has two twin beds. Upstairs, the remaining bedrooms have king-sized beds, and the principal suite has its own balcony. Outside, the swimming pool sits within a tropical garden of mature trees, with loungers set out on the pool deck for guests who want to spend the middle of the day there. A paved path leads from the pool through the villa's back gate down to the beach, where chairs are kept for guests' private use.
