Batts Rock Beach
Quiet, shady west-coast beach near Bridgetown with calm water, rock snorkelling and green monkeys

Batts Rock is a small public beach park in Black Rock, just north of Bridgetown, reached down a winding road. The strip of sand is narrow and broken up by rocks. Those rocks are the reason to come, because they hold small fish and make easy, calm snorkelling. Turtles are sometimes seen. There is shaded parking, a lifeguard station, showers and changing rooms, toilets, picnic benches under the trees and a children's playground. La Cabane serves food and drinks on the beach.
In some places flat rock means a short wade before you can swim, so try a few spots. Green monkeys often come through the wooded area between Batts Rock and Paradise Beach next door. It is quiet early in the morning. Catamarans pass close by heading for the turtle sites, and at sunset the path up the hill gives a clear view of them coming back into port.
