Calico is a newly built beachfront house in Prospect, St. James, with six bedrooms and six bathrooms arranged so that every bedroom has its own ensuite. The design opens the indoor rooms straight onto outdoor terraces, so the sea is rarely out of view. The top floor is given over entirely to a penthouse suite. From whichever corner of the room you stand in, you look out over the Caribbean Sea. The suite has his-and-her bathrooms, each finished to a high standard, and dressing rooms on both sides. A study sits off to one side, with its own private terrace facing the water, a quiet spot for working or simply sitting with the view. The penthouse also has its own rooftop swimming pool. Below, the remaining five bedrooms are finished with the same care, each with an ensuite bathroom, giving six ensuite bedrooms across the house in total. Counting the terraces that wrap around the living spaces, the house comes to 6,561 sq. ft. of floor area in all, which gives plenty of room to move between indoor and outdoor living without feeling the two are separate. Calico sits directly on the beach in Prospect, St. James, built new rather than renovated, with the kind of open layout that suits island life and a rooftop pool that few houses of this size can offer.
