Needham's Point is the headland at the southern end of Carlisle Bay, where the calm west-coast water meets the livelier south coast. This is the middle of three beaches around it, with Pebbles Beach to the north and Drill Hall Beach to the south. Close to the Hilton the water is sheltered and good for an easy swim, while the stretch towards Drill Hall has enough wave for boogie boarding and beginner surfing. Sea turtles are often seen, and paddleboards, kayaks and snorkel gear can be hired nearby.

Come early. Most mornings, from about 5:30 to 7am, grooms bring racehorses from the Garrison Savannah to swim at Pebbles Beach, a few minutes' walk north. Keep a respectful distance and do as the grooms say. The point is part of the Historic Bridgetown and its Garrison World Heritage Site, with Charles Fort and the lighthouse in the hotel grounds and the old Military Cemetery close by.
