Drill Hall Beach takes its name from the 1790 Drill Hall at the Garrison, once soldiers' barracks and now used by the Barbados Defence Force. It sits on the south-west coast just past Needham's Point, between Carlisle Bay and the south-coast hotels. The sand has a pinkish tint, and the car park has picnic tables under shady trees.

A shallow reef here makes the waves and currents less predictable than in Carlisle Bay next door, which is why surfers like it and surf lessons run here. Little children can paddle in the shallows, and the eastern end is usually the calmer place for a swim; a lifeguard is on duty. Facilities have been under renovation, so bring your own food and drink. The Garrison's historic sites, including St Ann's Fort, are a short walk away.
