Skeetes Bay Beach
A small working fishing bay on the east coast with calm water, a jetty and fresh fish.

Skeetes Bay is a tiny fishing village on the east coast of St Philip, between Ragged Point and Conset Bay. Life revolves around the fish market: a couple of day boats work from here through the winter, joined by more boats in summer after the flying-fish season, and you can buy fresh fish when the catch is in. There are toilets and showers, and benches to sit in the trade winds.
Unusually for this coast, the bay is sheltered and the water is fairly smooth, so it's fine for a swim or light boogie boarding; there's no lifeguard, so keep it gentle. You can fish off the jetty too. It rarely has more than a handful of people on the beach. The turning is easy to miss, so follow a map. From the clifftop you can see Culpepper Island and Ragged Point Lighthouse.
