Morgan Lewis Beach
Long, empty Atlantic beach in the north-east for walking and beachcombing, not for swimming

A long, wide sweep of soft white sand on the north-east coast of St Andrew, backed by coconut palms and open to the Atlantic rollers. There are no facilities and rarely any crowds: on most days you'll share it with a few riders on horseback tours and local fishermen. Green Pond lies just behind the shoreline, and the beach forms one edge of the Long Pond conservation area, with views back to the hills of the Scotland District.
Don't swim here. The waves, currents and undertow on this coast are strong, and there is no lifeguard. Come instead for a long walk, beachcombing and photographs. You'll need a car or a tour to get here, and it pairs well with the nearby Morgan Lewis windmill, then Cherry Tree Hill and St Nicholas Abbey a little way inland.

- Our guide rates the sea at Morgan Lewis Beach as usually rough, with strong waves and currents, so it is not a beach we suggest for young children to swim at.
