Waterside 402 is a one-bedroom, two-bathroom apartment set above tropical gardens in Paynes Bay, St. James, on the west coast of Barbados, with the lap pool and the beach just beyond. The pool runs 40 metres long and holds 50,000 gallons of water, a size that keeps its chemical needs low. Inside, the apartment is decorated in a calm mix of driftwood, sand and sea tones, built around the idea that this is a place to unwind rather than entertain. The open-plan living and dining room looks out over the Caribbean Sea, as does the private terrace, a good spot for a drink before dinner. French doors connect this terrace to the air-conditioned principal bedroom, which has its own marble en-suite bathroom. The sea is only steps from the resort's lap pool and its wide sun deck. Guests can reach every floor by lift, and there is a gym on site along with secured, private underground parking. Sandy Lane Hotel is within walking distance, as are The Cliff Restaurant and QP Bistro, two of the island's better-known places to eat. Holetown, with its designer shops, further restaurants, entertainment and business services, is a short distance further on. Snorkelling and golf are both available nearby for those who want to be active. This is a compact, private apartment suited to a couple wanting beachfront comfort.
