Saramanda sits on the Sandy Lane Estate on the west coast of Barbados, in St. James, with five bedrooms and five bathrooms arranged around a central, airy atrium that ties indoor and outdoor living together. Sandy Lane Beach is 5 minutes away, and both golf and tennis are a short walk from the house. The living and dining rooms all open on to the pool and garden. The main indoor living room has oversized, comfortable sofas and French doors leading to a covered terrace with outdoor seating and an informal dining area. Next to it, a laid-back media room with a wide screen TV, cable and DVD opens straight on to the pool deck. The dining room is built around a large coral stone table big enough for everyone to eat together. All five bedrooms are air-conditioned and en suite, each with its own flat-screen TV, cable and DVD/video, and each meant as a quiet corner to retreat to. Upstairs, two principal suites have king-size beds and private balconies looking over the pool deck and the landscaped gardens; these two bathrooms have both a bath and a shower. Downstairs, three further bedroom suites have twin beds that can be joined or kept separate as needed, and their bathrooms are shower only. Staying at Saramanda also brings membership to the Sandy Lane Beach Club, giving access to one of the island's well-regarded private beachfronts. The villa is fitted with high-speed WiFi, hair dryers, ceiling fans throughout, and a security alarm system.
