Porters Villa, once known as Porters Great House Cottage, sits within the old Porters Great House Estate on the West Coast in Porters, St. James. The drive in runs through a mahogany forest before opening onto the villa's own front garden and driveway. The house is built on one storey and joins two distinct parts together: an original wing with coral stone and period architecture on the outside, and a newer wing added later to give the house more room. Inside, the mood is relaxed rather than formal, with a contemporary feel throughout. The original wing holds the principal bedroom and the living room, both with tiled floors and large windows that let in plenty of light. The living room has a large sofa, a study table, cable television and a calm, modern look. From here the house opens into the newer wing, where you find the dining room, the kitchen and the other two bedrooms. The dining room is one of the house's better features: marble floors, a large metalwork chandelier, and a semi-open-air feel helped by a wall made entirely of wooden shutters that gives onto a small garden. A wrought iron gate wall leads from here to a corridor connecting the two remaining bedrooms on one side and the villa's entrance on the other, passing a small garden with a raised lily pond along the way. A high ceiling with detailed woodwork keeps the room well ventilated. The kitchen is modern and generous in size, finished in marble with quartz worktops, an island, two sinks (one double, one single), stainless steel appliances including a dishwasher and an espresso machine, and a wall of windows that lets the breeze through. Tableware is provided. A small laundry room sits just off the kitchen. The principal bedroom has a King bed, air conditioning and a ceiling fan, along with an ensuite bathroom fitted with a single vanity and a glass-walled shower. A second entrance leads to a hallway with a large wardrobe area and a smaller linen wardrobe, and the room looks out over the cottage gardens and driveway. The remaining two bedrooms match each other in layout and fittings: walk-in wardrobes, vanities, ensuite bathrooms with single vanities and glass-walled showers, and Twin beds that can be converted to King. Large double doors in each open onto unobstructed views of the estate's mahogany forest.
