Ixora sits on the 16th fairway of Royal Westmoreland Golf Resort in St James, a four-bedroom house with five bathrooms set on almost an acre of tropical garden and well-kept grounds. The style is classic Barbadian, with coral stone finishes and high ceilings giving the place an open, airy feel from the moment you step into the entrance foyer. That foyer runs straight through into the living room, furnished simply and comfortably, and from there out to a covered patio and pool deck. The swimming pool is the centre of outdoor life here, with lounge chairs set around it for sunbathing, swimming, reading, or a rum punch in the afternoon. A dining terrace and an informal seating area give two more spots from which to take in the pool and the garden. Three of the four bedrooms are in the main house, each with its own private ensuite bathroom and furnished with the same care as the rest of the villa. The fourth, the principal bedroom, has a wing of its own, reached by a covered walkway from the main house. It comes with a large four-poster bed, a walk-in wardrobe and a private bathroom, giving it a degree of separation from the other rooms. The kitchen is fitted with good appliances and finishes throughout, suited to anyone keen to cook with local Barbadian ingredients during their stay. There is also a small study and a powder room, both included with the villa. Throughout the house, the rooms are designed to let in plenty of light and keep a sense of space, making Ixora a comfortable base for a family or group of friends on a Barbados holiday.
