Fairwinds sits above the golf course at Apes Hill in St. James, a six-bedroom house built for a group that wants both company and space apart. Alongside the main living areas it has its own gym, cinema room and games room, and runs with a chef, butler and housekeeping staff on hand throughout your stay. Four of the six bedrooms are in the main house, all upstairs. Three face the sea, each with a King-size bed, an en-suite bathroom and a private terrace looking out over the golf course. The fourth bedroom has two twin beds that can be made up as a King, with its bathroom just outside the room rather than en-suite. A separate guest cottage at the front of the property holds the remaining two bedrooms, both with Queen-size beds and en-suite bathrooms, giving six bedrooms and six bathrooms across the property in total. It works well for multi-generational families or several couples travelling together, with the cottage offering a bit of distance from the main house while staying close by. Outside, the day tends to move at its own pace: coffee on a terrace in the morning, a swim in the pool, time under the shaded gazebo with a book. There is an alfresco dining area on the pool deck for meals outdoors, and the option of a golf round or a massage at the wellness centre when the mood takes you. A stay here comes with full Apes Hill Club membership, which covers the championship golf course, the clubhouse, Padel courts, the restaurant, wellness facilities and other club activities. Outside the resort, it is a short drive to Barbados' Platinum Coast, to Holetown for dining, boutiques and nightlife, and to Speightstown for its older, quieter character.
