Atelier House sits on Carlton Ridge in St. James, high above the west coast with ocean views that reach well past the garden. The interior architect who owns the house designed it themselves, drawing on projects completed for private clients in London, France, Italy and Kenya. Inside, a double-height living space opens the sightline straight out past the terraces and pool, over a gully filled with mahogany trees, to the Caribbean Sea beyond. There is a roof terrace for a different angle on the same view, and a mezzanine study tucked above the living area looking out over the west coast. Ground-level terraces surround a 32 x 27 ft pool, and the whole property sits within half an acre of garden planted with indigenous palms, lilies, bougainvillea and a mix of flowering shrubs. The house has 4 bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms. Upstairs, the master suite has its own glazed balcony over the sea, a covered terrace to sit out on, and an ensuite bathroom with a separate bath and shower. The 3 guest bedrooms are all on the ground floor: one is ensuite with an enclosed outdoor shower, while the other two share a bathroom between them. Weddings and small events can be arranged on request, at an additional cost, for up to 75 guests.
