Alila stands in Sandy Lane, St. James, mixing Barbadian and Balinese design ideas through open plan rooms and generous use of hardwood, giving the house a natural, organic feel throughout. A fountain greets you at the entrance, and the wooden walkway into the villa is flanked by koi ponds on either side. From there a raised dining area, open along one side and lined with a full wall water feature, comfortably seats ten and looks out over the grounds while you eat. Steps lead down from the dining area to a seating area, also open on one side with views of the pool, which in turn opens onto a second, more private sitting area. The villa has 4 bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms. Each bedroom has its own en-suite bathroom and air conditioning, and the open plan layout means every room connects to the next, each with its own glimpse of the view. The principal suite takes up the entire upper level and includes an ornately finished double bathroom with a walk-in shower that opens onto a private patio with its own outdoor bath. This patio looks over the pool and gazebo and takes in one of the best views on the property, with a gully running along the north side and the coast to the west. The remaining 3 bedrooms are on the lower level. Outside, landscaped gardens surround a saltwater infinity pool, and a wooden bridge crosses the water to a raised gazebo that serves as an open-air dining spot with wide views along the west coast. The kitchen is large and fully equipped, finished with granite surfaces, and the house has iPod docks in every room along with modern security features throughout. Guests staying at Alila have access to the Sandy Lane Property Owners' beach, including a private cabana for storage and use of the owners' bar and lounge.
